Texture/Value (Trompe L’Oeil)
To create these drawings investigating value and texture, students were asked to create a collage made of materials of different value and texture, on a sturdy surface like cardboard or Bristol. Using this collage as the basis of their compositions, students either recreated the entire collage or a section of it in a tromp l’oeil style using graphite. These drawings were intended to place emphasize on the textures and value to create the illusion that they could feel them if they touched them.
